Andy Murray loses his wedding ring in smelly shoe debacle

Fortunately, the saga is over.

Andy Murray, after asking for help finding his missing wedding ring after an unfortunate – and smelly – situation at the Indian Wells Masters, has found the group in his possession.

Murray took to social media on Thursday to explain how his tennis shoes and ring were stolen. He said he returned to his hotel room after Wednesday night’s dinner and that his shoes were “wet, sweaty and smelly”. So instead of allowing them to continue to stink the room, he decided they needed air for the games to come.

Without a balcony adjoining his room, he left his shoes under the car overnight. When he went to pick them up in the morning, they were gone. At first he thought of nothing more than a minor inconvenience.

“I had to go to the pro store to buy different shoes than I usually wear, a different brand and everything,” he said on the Instagram video. “Which is not the end of the world but obviously not ideal.”

But then he arrived at training and his physiotherapist asked him where his wedding ring was since it was not on his finger.

“I was like ‘Oh no.’ I tie my wedding ring to my tennis shoes when I play because I can’t play with my hand, ”Murray said. “So yeah, my wedding ring was stolen too. Needless to say I’m in the wrong books at home. So I want to try and find her. So if anyone can share that or have any idea where it turns out would be very useful so that I can try to retrieve it. That would be much appreciated. “

Murray added in the caption:

“Yeah, I know I’m an idiot and looking back it seems like a terrible idea, but I need help. He included a laughing emoji on the side and asked what the reward should be for anyone who returns it.

Fortunately, a few hours later, Murray posted an update. Her ring had been returned.

“I had to make a few calls today and chat with hotel security and everything,” Murray said. “A little update for everyone. Would you believe it? They still absolutely stink, but the shoes are back. The wedding ring is back. And I’m back in the good books.

Murray married Kim Sears in 2015. His mother, Judy Murray, responded to the Instagram post with a simple face-palm emoji. The Tennis Channel had fun with the missing part of the shoes.

The three-time Grand Slam winner is set to face Adrian Mannarino in the first round of the tournament on Friday.
