Wedding plan

Line of Duty star Vicky McClure reveals snippets of wedding plan – including city where she will marry fiancé Jonny Owen

As her Twitter bio makes clear, Line of Duty star Vicky McClure was “born and raised in Nottingham”.

So it’s probably not surprising that she proudly chose her hometown as the location of her highly anticipated nuptials with her fiancé and filmmaker Jonny Owen… and it’s “for sure”.

As the 35-year-old remains silent on exactly where she will finally say ‘yes’ to her six-plus-year-old sweetheart, she revealed to Nottinghamshire Live how she very briefly flirted with the walk down the aisle at Wollaton Hall and Deer Park.

“You know what, I thought about it [getting married at Wollaton Park] but I don’t know, I don’t know, “said the former Fernwood School student.

“It’s my favorite place on earth but it could be a big job and I don’t think I have the energy for it. I don’t know but we’ll get there.”

It doesn’t look like the couple, who now live in Toton and got engaged on Christmas Day 2018, will be making wedding selfies in front of the Left Lion either, despite the Bafta-winning actress’s love affair.

“Oh my god, the council house, I love it,” said Wollaton-born Vicky. “You know, I’ve been to so many weddings here, so I’ve tested everywhere. I’m not going to tell you obviously, but I’m sure you’ll find out at some point.

“But we’re getting married in Nottingham for sure.”

More surprising to some fans of the prime-time TV sweetheart – which can then be seen showing an emotional documentary on BBC One on Thursday, May 2 titled Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure – is the fact that the actress has a wedding planner.

But there’s no need to worry, the famous down-to-earth actress hasn’t turned into a bridezilla.

“I’m saying a wedding planner, I don’t want it to sound like …” interrupts the star, who is currently filming a secret project in London.

“I’m not JLo.”

Vicky says the informal position is more of a helping hand and is especially helpful when calling potential sites or suppliers.

“She’s awesome this girl and she’s not operational, she’s still learning and I prefer that. She’s someone who is really passionate and we bumped into each other at random and she said let me know if you have needed help and said i could really do that with a little help.

“It’s a little overwhelming. But she points me in the right direction. It’s tricky and I’d be lying if I didn’t sometimes say I call places and they’ll say what’s your name and I’ll say Vicky McClure ( especially in Nottingham) and they’ll say ‘ohhhhhhhh’ ello ‘and you’ll get caught up in all kinds of conversations.

“So with that side of it, it makes it a lot easier for me.”

But regardless of where she gets married, Vicky assures that there is no reason to buy a hat this year at least.

She says, “It’s not happening this year but it’s in the plan … it’s in the plan.”
