NCSU’s Kevin Keatts helps fan recover lost alliance outside Carter-Finley on game day

RALEIGH, NC (WTVD) – NC State Football finished with a win on Saturday, as did a fan who, with help from the Wolfpack’s Kevin Keatts, reportedly had some explanation for his return home.

Raleigh’s Will Yadusky recently celebrated his 16th wedding anniversary and was hanging out with friends outside Carter-Finley Stadium ahead of the Furman game when he lost his wedding ring.

Yadusky said he was working on the grill when a dishonest hot dog fell to the ground; he immediately grabbed it to throw it in the trash.

“I picked up a molten hot dog,” Yadusky said. “The moment I realized this, I just brushed my hands like crazy and heard that kind of ding-dong-dong freaking out and realized oh, that was my wedding ring.”

Just like that, the binder love symbol was now loose in the parking lot.

Fans of the neighboring Pack rushed to help, some pulling their cars or backing them out of their designated spaces to scour the ground in search of his ring.

It was then that Yadusky said he heard a voice behind him.

“Someone says, ‘Coach Keatts ?!’ And I look up and here is the man himself, ”Yadusky said. “And he said to me, ‘What are we looking for?'”

Over the next few minutes, Yadusky said that Keatts, who was heading for the game, stopped to help, raking the grass with his hands, trying to find his alliance.

“He said to me, ‘You know, I don’t know if we can let you go home without finding this,” Yadusky said. “I was as well, I appreciate your concern, I do.”

Yadusky said State’s men’s basketball coach offered some advice on the game:

“‘Don’t think of this as a linear search – it probably didn’t go right.'”

Sure enough, seconds after Keatts walked away, it was there, mixed with gravel several yards from where it had flown.

“The fact that he took five to ten minutes a day on match day was the part that was really meaningful to me,” said Yadusky. “I am delighted to know that he is in real life as good as he looks on television.”

Yadusky immediately tweeted his thanks to Keatts who expressed his relief in a response.
