LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. (WSVN) – A wedding ring was lost, then found at a restaurant in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, and thanks to the power of social media, the gem returned to its owner in time for Christmas.
An inscription on the ring helped guide her to Bob and Katy Mann this weekend.
“That said, ‘Love, Katy’. KATY, ”Katy said.
The couple said they were eating at one of their favorite restaurants, the Aruba Beach Cafe in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, a few days ago when Bob dropped his wedding ring without even realizing it. account.
That’s when Michelle Heiser came into the picture.
“I’m walking, and all of a sudden I looked down and saw a gold ring, and I said to my husband, I’m going, ‘Looks like somebody’s wedding ring ‘”, she said.
Heiser, who was at the restaurant with her husband, said she immediately knew what to do.
“All I was like when I saw the ring was, ‘Oh, my God, and if that was my ring or hers,'” she said. “I would like someone to find a way to return it to me.”
Heiser posted a photo of the ring on social media with the caption: “I just found this man’s wedding ring on the street. He’s listed. If you’re Katy and you can tell me what d other the ring, send me a message and I will send it to you.
“Within hours, someone who knows them, who lives in New Jersey, answered me and sent me a private message, and he said, ‘I think I know who it is,’ said said Heiser.
This person from New Jersey called the Manns and asked if the group was theirs.
“I asked [Bob] if he had lost a ring, and he said, no, he said, ‘Oh, wait a minute. I don’t have my ring, ”Katy said. “He thought it was in the bathroom, and he couldn’t find it.”
The couple contacted Heiser and told him the rest of the entry: the date of the wedding.
She delivered it over Christmas.
“It could have been run over, trampled or stolen,” Katy said. “Anything could have happened, so we were really lucky. “
It was the best Christmas present for the Manns, who have been married for 56 years.
“It was just great that they kept going like this,” Katy said.
“I think they were more excited than us,” said Bob.
Now Heiser has plans for her husband’s wedding ring.
“We also realized that we had better inscribe her ring, because it is not inscribed, and if we lose it, we are in trouble,” she said.
Big trouble, but not for the Manns.
“A happy ending, a very happy ending,” Katy said.
It’s a good thing they got this ring back in time. The couple will celebrate their wedding anniversary on Wednesday.
